On April 25, 2025, the evening sky will light up with something truly special—a “Smiley Face” celestial event visible along the Eastern Seaboard and beyond!

This rare sky show is caused by a unique alignment of the crescent moonVenus, and Jupiter—coming together to form what looks just like a glowing smiley face in the sky.

What Is the Smiley Face Sky Event?

Right after sunset, look toward the western horizon. You’ll spot a delicate crescent moon above the two brightest planets in our solar system: Venus and Jupiter.

These planets will appear as bright dots directly below the moon, forming two “eyes” and a curved “smile” shape that’s easy to spot with the naked eye. It’s a rare alignment and a fun reason to look up!

When to See It

  • Best time: Just before sunrise (between 5:30-6:30am local time)
  • Best view: Anywhere with a clear view of the western sky
  • Photo tip: Try snapping a picture—this is a sky selfie opportunity you don’t want to miss!

A Smile from the Universe—and from Us 😊

At Olson Orthodontics, we’re in the business of creating smiles—and we love when the universe gets in on the fun. This cheerful sky event is a perfect reminder to take a moment, look up, and enjoy the beauty all around us.

And if your smile needs a little help to match the sky? We’re here for that too!
